The Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) today, October 28 joined the global Judo community in celebrating World Judo Day 2025, as the president of the Judo Federation Dr Musa Oshodi urges Nigerians to promote peace, mutual respect and discipline to build a better society.

The annual event, holds on every October 28 to commemorate the birthday of Judo founder Professor Jigoro Kano and this year’s celebration is with the theme “Peace.”
In a press release signed by the General Secretary of Nigeria Judo Federation Jude Atoe , the President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, called on all Judokas across the country to use the celebration to promote peace, unity, and mutual understanding within their clubs, states, and communities.
Dr. Oshodi noted that peace remains the foundation for development, both in sports and in the nation at large. He urged Judokas to mark the day with training sessions, demonstrations, and peace inside their dojos, symbolizing unity and discipline — two core principles of Judo.
According to the statement,the 2025 world Judo Day celebration, supported by Café Grace Hotel/Bar and the Youths & Sports Empowerment Initiative, is scheduled to take place at the FCT Complex, Old Parade Ground, Garki, Abuja.
Dr. Oshodi stated that the NJF will continue to promote the values of respect, friendship, and courage that define the sport.
He extends warm greetings to all Nigerian Judokas and encouraged them to keep the spirit of Judo alive — both on and off the mat — while upholding the timeless philosophy of discipline, harmony, and understanding.
In his goodwill message, Senator Neda Imaseun, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, commended the Federation for its efforts on promoting peace through sport, describing Judo as “a reminder that every bow, every grip, and every throw carries the power to bring us together.”
