BENIN CITY-His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II ,has been commended for the continuous peace in Benin kingdom and his efforts in the preservation, promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Benin kingdom.
Chief Amb Osarumwense Agbonavbare Egharevba JP, TOGHOBAGHASE of Benin kingdom made the commendation in a chat with journalists after receiving an award of excellence for the promotion of the culture of Edo people at the Nigeria Union of Journalist secretariat in Benin.
According to him, the award is a sign that more work need to be done to promote and preserve the culture of the people adding that culture is the identity of the people which must be protected for the generation yet unborn.
Chief Amb Osarumwense Agbonavbare Egharevba JP lamented the situation where the people opted for the western culture which is alien to us adding that all hands must be on deck to stop this trend and join the great Oba of great Benin kingdom to rejuvenate, preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage which the Edo people are known for all over the world
While pledging his unalloyed loyalty to the Benin Monarch ,Oba Ewuare II and the constituted Benin Traditional Council, Chief Amb Osarumwense Agbonavbare Egharevba JP said those trying to cause division and chaos in the kingdom are enemy of the Oba and the good people of Edo State
He appreciated the executive and members of Nigeria Union of Journalist Edo State council for the award and promised to continue to assist the union when need arises
Chief Amb Osarumwense Agbonavbare Egharevba, JP also used the occasion to felicitate with the Oba and the good people of Edo State on the celebration of the annual ugie festival which is billed to commence next week and urged the people to fully participate in the activities lined up and promote the festival to the world
