His Royal Majesty,Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo,Oba Ewuare II has been affirmed as the custodian of all the deities and shrines as well as the tradition, customs of the people of Benin Kingdom
The newly installed Ohen Ovia Nokhua ,Ogbeiwi Osaro in Iguoshodin Nebudin Ovia North East local government area gave the affirmation while speaking to journalists on his installation as the Ohen Ovia recently.
The Ohen Ovia Nokhua use the opportunity to thank the great Oba Ewuare II for his stance on the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the great Benin Kingdom and urged other traditionalists to join in the preservation of the cultures of the Benins
He disclosed that his installation as the Ohen Ovia was not done secretly,it was done with the full participation of the igieohen led by Mr Enoma Igbinesigie, Ohen Ovia Nunuame at the Ovia shrine before the main celebration was done at the village with full participation also of the good people of Iguoshodin Nebudin
The Ohen Ovia Nokhua further disclosed that the position was last held by his father and since it is hereditary and so as not to create a long vacuum he decided to assumed the position with the full support of the elders ,people of Iguoshodin Nebudin village.
He then used the occasion to call on on those allegedly causing problem in the village especially those that also allegedly went to bury some casket and other charms to come and do the needful so that there will be peace and progress in the village
Also speaking an elder from the village ,Hon James Agbonlile said the installation of the Ohen Ovia Nokhua ,Mr Ogbeiwi Osaro at the Ovia shrine was wholeheartedly accepted by the elders and people of the village as he was the rightful person to assume the position of his late father who was the last Ohen Ovia of Iguoshodin Nebudin.
On his part Mr Alelunuagbon Osagie pointed out that they grew up to meet the Ohen Ovia, it is hereditary as any other person can not be an Ohen Ovia ,adding that before the installation proper the Mr Ogbeiwi Osaro went to meet with all the Igieohen in that axis that he was ready to assume the position of his late father ,it was the Igieohen that asked him to fix a date and the elders and people of Iguoshodin Nebudin rallied round him for the successful installation as the Ohen Ovia Nokhua of Iguoshodin Nebudin
“The people are happy that Iguoshodin Nebudin village now have an Ohen Ovia Nokhua after a long while”.
He urged those other persons allegedly trying to cause disaffection and division in Iguoshodin Nebudin village to desist forthwith and to come and carryout the necessary cleansing of the village on the alleged casket and other things that they buried in the village to kill or harm the people so that what they are fighting for will get to them .
“They will be accepted back for peace to reign in the village, once the necessary cleansing is done ,we all know that such a thing is a forbidden thing in Benin Kingdom hence they could not come for the installation of the Mr Ogbeiwi Osaro as the Ohen Ovia Nokhua of Iguoshodin Nebudin ,he is the rightful person for the position,it can not be argued “. He added
When contacted by journalist on the installation,Mr Enoma Igbinesigie the Ohen Ovia Nunuame, confirmed the installation of Mr Ogbeiwi Osaro as the Ohen Ovia Nokhua of Iguoshodin Nebudin after the necessary rites have been done ,adding that the Igieohen from that axis were present at the Ovia shrine where it was carried out.
