… Assembly directs Police Commissioner to investigate attack
… Doles out One Million Naira for treatment of victims
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Blessing Agbebaku has condemned the attack that led to the death of a 16-year old student at Okpuje Community in Owan West LGA, Edo State.
The Speaker, while condemning the attack on the floor of the House today, 28th October, 2025, expressed sympathy for the deceased , victims and their families, noting that the House has directed the Commissioner of Police in the State to investigate the gun attack allegedly carried out by the men of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
“We are not against NDLEA doing their job, but it must be done diligently and professionally.
“Invading a peaceful community in the dead of the night and shooting sporadically led to this situation.
“We are also appealing to the Governor of the State, Senator Monday Okpebholo to wade in and see how those responsible for this act can be brought to book.
“As an Assembly, we are deeply saddened and outraged by the senseless act of gun shot that occurred in the community yesterday, 27th of October. I condemn this act in the strongest possible terms . “We will work tirelessly with the Police to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that our community is safe and supportive for all residents.”
The Assembly Speaker has also approved the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) to take care of the medical bills of those injured.
