Am American based Nigerian, Mr Okefe Aigbe Lebarty has asserted that quality education should not be for the rich alone but as well as the children at the grassroots for them to have equal opportunities for a better future
Mr Lebarty gave the assertion in an address at the commissioning of Lebarty America Leadership Academy at Idumwowina community after University of Benin main gate in Ovia North East Local government area of Edo State.
He said the motivation to locate the school in the rural community instead of the high brow government reservation areas is to give equal opportunities to the children of the poor to access good quality education for their future and for the betterment of the country
In an address by the deputy governor, Engr Marvelous Goodwins Omobayo represented by Mrs Uwaifo Ganiyatu said education is everybody’s business, while quality education as being offered by lebarty Academy can only be provided by well meaning individuals and organizations whose passion is to positively impact society and humanity
He said as a responsible government,the present administration since assumption of office in 2016 has invested huge resources in transforming the education sector as well as training and retraining of teaching staff in the educational system
The deputy governor added that it is on record that the Edo Best program of the present administration has become a model for other state in Nigeria and also won many international recognition including the world Bank
While congratulating the investor , management and staff of Lebarty America Leadership Academy for the outstanding feat and being a formidable partner with the government in advancing the frontier of education added that no doubt the school will be a unique citadel of learning where children can learn leadership , sound ethical and moral values as well as fundamental principles of life
In a brief remarks on the occasion,the royal father of the day , Chief Osato Bazuaye, Aiwerioghene of Benin kingdom commended the proprietor Mr Aigbe Lebarty for the vision and for having a value in the place he lived
He then commended the head of school for the assurance that the children of the academy will be given the best for then to be somebody in future
The highpoint of the occasion was the commissioning of the academy by the deputy governor, Chief Aiwerioghene and other dignitaries at the occasion
