Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has announced an automatic employment for the 15 first class graduating students of Edo State University Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area.
Obaseki who made the announcement at the 4th Convocation Ceremony of Edo State University Uzairue commended the Institution for the gains made in learning and research.
“As usual all the 15 Students that made a first class in this set have as usual automatic employment into Edo State Civil and public service, your job is waiting for you.
“We have made it a standard that any graduate from any of our University in Edo State that made a first class should be given an automatic employment in our Public and Civil Service. We wants to build quality manpower in the state workforce.
“As we mark the 4th Convocation Ceremony of Edo State University Uzairue our Institution has continued to blaze the trail in teaching and research in Nigeria. This academic year has been challenging but we are today celebrating the first set of post graduate students in the Institution.
“In the last six years, we have placed premium on education, we have continued to implement transformational reforms in our basic education sector because we believe that the foundation in which education rest must be a solid one”.
Obasekj said his administration is prioritizingTechnical and Vocational education which is believed to be a nation builder. He notes that the educational system must now focus on building people who can now use their hands and skills in the work place.
“Unless we strengthen the foundation of education in this country by strengthening basic education and promoting TIVET we will not have strong human capital base that we require.
“Our vision for higher Institution of learning is that we should be able to compete with the best in the world offering education that is relevant and contemporary in the country.
“This University has continued to record impressive mile stone in its mark to self reliance and sustainability and impress with the success so far achieved”.
“The convocation lecture with the topic “Fake News: Rethinking the role of mainstream and Social media in National Development” delivered by firmer Director General of the NTA is apt and socially conscious particularly as we head toward the 2023 general election.
“There us an imperative to ensure that journalistic ethics are upheld across media platforms and that the media is socially responsible in the discharge of its activities so that the generality of the people are best serve with the content that will cause them to make best judgement in the election and other spheres of life.

We wants to convert the facility and make sure we have all that is required to build the laboratory, workshops, get the teachers in and commence operation soon”.
The Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University Uzairue Dr. Aderemi Makanjuola who declared the 4th Convocation open commended Edo State Governor and Visitor to the Institution Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for his commitment and support for the school which is making it break ground in the academic world.
He noted that the Institution has continued to produce world class education and its graduant competing favourable with students from world class university across the globe.
“Thank you Mr. Governor for providing resources to sustain the University of this magnitude as our students have been prepared to face the challenges of life which we are sure they will overcome following the kind of knowledge acquired here in Edo State University Uzairue”.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Institution prof. Emmanuel Aluyo said since the establishment of the University in 2016, the Institution has continued to stand out through its commitment of students, staff and management of the School.
He noted that the University us breaking grounds, recording giant strides in teaching, learning and research.
” Today we are graduating 26 masters students, 9 Diploma, 283 under graduates, 15 of which are first class students, 120 2nd class upper, 102 2nd class lower and 11 with 3rd class degree.
“First set of master degree graduand is conviction today, while next conviction we will be adding Doctorate degree graduand. This has reaffirmed that its possible to break new education grounds and completes academic programmes on time.
” N5 million naira has been set aside yearly to reward the best graduating students with the best entrepreneurial skills and also a N1 million award for the best graduating students”.
The best graduating student from Civil Engineering Department Seyi Olatunde-Agbooro who graduated with a first class with a GDP of 4.97 commended his parents, lectures and friends who made the achievement possible.
He noted that the secret is on reading and constantly doing his assignment without failing. He thanked God for the feat achieved.
