BENIN CITY- Edo State Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki has put all modalities and strategy in place to mobilize support for Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin against the opponent Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB) of Morocco at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium by 4pm.
The governor through the Edo City Transport Services (ECTS) is providing free bus ride at different pickup points to transport fans to and fro the match venue as gate fee for the game is free to encourage fans to fill up the 12,000 capacity Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Edo State Governor Mr Andrew Okungbowa governor Godwin Obaseki has express his appreciation to the people of the State for their massive support for Bendel Insurance Football Club against Aso Chlef FC of Algeria which led to victory and that victory last month still echo around the City and across the State.
“We are equally calling Edo people to come out enmass and support their darling team against their Moroccan counterpart. Edo State through Bendel Insurance is at the verge of making history.
“Over three decades ago we have not have our team participate at this level but now have the opportunity. We have been victorious in the first preliminary and now we are at the second and needs our support to get far. We are appealing to all to be at the stadium to massively support the team.
“The governor has done everything possible to encourage the team. The team is not lacking as all that is needed physically, emotionally and spiritually has been provided. We have also put all in place to mobilize our people as it will be another history making event.
“The governor will be leading the charge tomorrow as commissioners, legislative arm, public and civil servants across the State have all been mobilized to be in the stadium to cheer Bendel Insurance to Victor. The governor will be the number one supporter of the team. The team are in good spirits for the game also the supporters. The State government is behind the team urging them for victory”.
Executive Chairman, Edo State sports Commission Mr. Yusuf Ali said 15,000 ticket has been produced for the game and the ticket is free to serve as enough motivation for fans to fill the 12,000 capacity Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to cheer Bendel Insurance Football Club to victory.
Ali thanked all expecially journalist for their collaboration which resulted to massive support for Bendel Insurance Football Club to triumph over Aso Chlef FC of Algeria last month. He noted that for the first time in the history of the State the Stadium was packed full.
“We have a game on Saturday 16th September 2023 and that game is very crucial for Bendel Insurance Football Club. Our team was not given the chance to defeat Algeria but we did it and this time around we would do it again to make Edo people proud.
“We would still maintain the 30 buses shuttle and 12 pick up points where the buses will carry fans to and fro the stadium at the end of the game. We have already organized a road show to let the people know about the match. This is a 12,000 capacity stadium but we have printed 15, 000 ticket and the tickets are ready and it’s free for everyone as the gate will be wide open to receive and accept as much fans as possible.
“For every home game in the stadium, governor Obaseki will give out five jersey at the VIP. These jerseys will be for former Bendel Insurance players to encourage them to be part of the move.
“About a year ago Bendel Insurance was in NNL, we progressed to NPFL, now Continental and progress is sure. I have hope in the boys and the management team appealing to all to support and encourage them all continue to give us Victor in their games “.
The MD/CEO ECTS Mrs Hauwa Dupe Ohikhuai thanked the Bendel Insurance Football Club for the victory against ASO Chlef of Algeria urging the team to repeat same feat against their Moroccan counterpart on Saturday 16th of September 2023 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City Edo State.
She noted that there will be free bus ride that will carry fans from various pick up points across the city to the stadium and also returning them back to their pickup point at the end of the game.
She noted that ECTS buses will be deployed to same location used during the last match against ASO Chlef of Algeria. “The route for the free bus services includes Ugbowo axis, Airport Road, Sokponba road, Ikpoba-Hill, Eyean Aduwawa axis, Kingsquare aixs, Ogida Siluko road, New Benin, Sapele road and Ekenmwan road. As many that comes to this location will be taken to the stadium and returned back to the point of pickup after the end of the game”.
She said there will be a road show to creat awareness for this purpose so that people will know and understand that there is a free bus ride to and from the stadium on Saturday.
