BENIN CITY-The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, has installed eight (8) Enogie (Dukes) to oversee some villages on his behalf .
The Enigies are the first set of hereditary titles of Enogie that have been installed since the past six years when the great Oba ascended the throne .
The installed Enigies are ,HRH Akenzua Ileruhnuwa to preside over Oghobaghase village ,HRH Imadonmwinyi Ogbemudia to take charge of Obagie N’Evbuosa village in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State
HRH Uwaifioku Festus Ogbo as the Enogie of Ugha village , HRH Eguagie Ogieayevbona ,Enogie of Ike N’Isi village while HRH,Owie Osamudiamien Terry as the Enogie of Evboeren N’Erua village in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the state
Others include HRH Igbinidu Iduorobo Ernest , Enogie of Uwan Esegie village , HRH Alfred Erhuayi Osagie , Enogie of Oye-Iyanomo village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State and HRH Enogie Izevbokun Lucky Obaisiagbon as the Enogie of Evbovbioba/Evboekhae village in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State
In his address, Oba Ewuare II urged the newly installed enigie against the indiscriminate sales of communal land in their respective domain as he (Oba ) would not hesitate to sanction any of them that get involve in nefarious activities.
“Why would we sell communal land indiscriminately? You didn’t advise investors and developers to provide basic amenities that will give comfort to the residents in your area.All you are interested in is to sell land ,use the proceed to purchase expensive vehicles and start bragging.”
“Anyone that is involved in such act henceforth,I will personally remove him from the position. Things are changing for good in Benin kingdom .As Enigies (Dukes) ,you should be well behaved .Behave responsibly both in principle and practice. Everything that have been said here must not change , everyone has to abide by it ”
During the Ekponmwenabo (Thanksgiving) outdoor ceremony at Ugha-Ozolua in Oba Palace ,the Enigies took turns to pay homage to the great Benin throne ,sang and dance with their families, chiefs, friends and well-wishers .
