BENIN CITY-The Benin Monarch,His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II has appealed to Federal Government to adequately fund security agencies for them to tackle the security challenges presently confronting the country
Oba Ewuare II made the appeal when the newly deployed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to Edo State command ,Mr Samuel Dan paid him a courtesy visit at the Palace recently
The Monarch who expressed worries over the high rate of insecurity, kidnapping,banditary,terrorism and senseless killings across the country called for a collaborative efforts of the Armed Forces to courageously brace up to the challenges
While pointing out that intelligence gatherings help to counter act of terrorism and prevent attacks,the Royal Father urged the Commandant of NSCDC to ensure that the officers in the Command are alert ready and vigilant always
Earlier the Commandant NSCDC, Edo State Command , Mr Samuel Dan said he was at the Palace to inform the Oba of his assumption of duty as the Commandant NSCDC Edo State Command and to solicit for prayers and support for him to succeed in the new posting
He also informed the Oba that the core mandate of the NSCDC includes,assisting in the maintenance of peace and order,protection and rescuing of the civil population during period of emergency, registration and approval of private guard company license, maintaining surveillance over infrastructures,sites,and projects for both the federal government, state and local government and the protection against vandalization of petroleum pipelines
He appreciated the Oba for the continued support to the command in the state .
