It was jubilation galore as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas announced member representing Owan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Prof Julius Ihonvbere as the House Leader for the 10th National Assembly.
Ihonvbere’s appointment via a correspondence to the Speaker from the National Leadership of the All Progressive Party, ( APC ) set the House in trendy mood as soon as the presiding officer, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced Ihonvbere’s name with visibly elated members chanting” Prof, Prof, Prof,” a tacit acknowledgement and widespread support for the choice of the Erudite Owan Rep member for the exalted position.
The race towards clinching the other principal positions of the National Assembly, the Senate and House of Representatives has been laced with so much drama and intrigues since the inauguration of the National Assembly on June 13 followed by the election of Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Speaker respectively.
Ihonvbere’s choice by the APC and his wide acceptability as displayed by his colleagues after his pronouncement is a clear testament of the fact that the Owan Rep member maintains a respectable and cult followership in the country’s top legislature.
