Dr Uyi Osagie, a vibrant and quintessential community builder has called on the youths of Edo to join the great Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II CFR in the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the people of the great Benin kingdom and also to guide their culture and traditions jealously as it is their identity
Dr Uyi as he is popularly called, is an indigene of Ohogua Community in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo State made the call while celebrating his birthday recently
He has been on the forefront and advocate on the need for the people to preserve and promote the rich cultures of which the good people of Edo State is known for and not allow the western culture overide our rich cultural Heritage
He noted that the people have so much embraced the western culture to the detriment of our own culture which is known all over the world adding that the problems affecting the society today like crime and criminality, high rate of prostitution and other social vices are as a result of the abandonment of our rich culture and traditions which is against these problems that are allein to the society
Dr Uyi then used the occasion also to appeal to parents to ensure they speak our own language to their children and also teach the family the customs and traditions of the land before it will go into extinction adding that the western world have their own traditions as well which they do not joke with
While thanking the Oba of Benin kingdom,His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II CFR for his stance on using our language to communicate, he urged the people to join hands with the Oba in the preservation, promotion of our rich cultural heritage which is known all over the world.
