The efforts at checking the activities of land grabbers in Edo state is paying off, with many land grabbers being brought to face the law and/or make restitution.
The Edo State Private Properties Protection Committee, headed by Hon. Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga (Retd) has continued to record remarkable feats in bringing culprits to account for their activities across Edo communities with at least 28 cases on average being heard during each sitting in Government House Benin City.
Making use of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, the Committee helps parties to broker truce, Midwives recovery of properties encroached on or sold without authority and charges cases to court in further pursuit of justice for aggrieved parties.
On Thursday, October 26 one Kenneth Osayande was arraigned by the Committee at the High Court 4, Criminal Division, on a 3 count charge of forceful acquisition of land, sale of land without authority and malicious damage.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. His application for bail will be considered on the next adjourned date, October 31, 2023.
The said Respondent was previously at large until he was eventually arrested by the Committee on October 16 in Benin City.
