…Says LP have come to rescue Nigeria in all ramifications
It was a gathering of who is who in Ward 3 Labour Party (LP) of Arrue and Eror Communities in Esan North-East local government area of Edo State as a frontline governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Edo 2024 election, Mr. Martins Okoukoni stormed the party secretariat to formally receive party membership card and declare his intention to succeed Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the next governor come 2024 election in the state.
Mr. Okoukoni who has since consulted his kinsmen before declaring his interest to contest for the number one seat of Edo State was received by Ward 3 Executive members, party supporters, family members, friends and well-wishers who has gathered at the party secretariat to give him a rousing reception.
While addressing the marmot crowd, including the Obidient family, Okoukoni noted that with the present technology available across the globe, Edo State supposed to be one of the leading state in Nigeria where our farmer will go to the farm without kidnap, our market women goes to the market without harassment and our loved one in the rural villages sleep with their two eye close, but reserve is the case.
“I made bold to state here that our government has failed us, our leaders has made life difficult for us, and we are suffering and smiling. We should not run away from the fact that our environment is not conducive for us to dwell. We must wake up to take back what is rightful belong to us.
“The only we would achieve that is to come together as one, vote for Labour Party to actualize our dream of a better Edo State and better Nigeria for our unborn children.
“I want to assure Edo State people in particular and Nigeria at large that Labour Party have come to rescue Nigerians in all ramification due to its style of engagement. Our party is not a money money party that sees candidates as ATM. With Labour Party, everyone is welcome and supported to actualize a dream and vision.
“I have carefully studied what would be my style of leadership come Edo 2024 gubernatorial election – A leadership by example, a transformational style of leadership that ensure working together in peace and unity with political party leaderships, stakeholders – good people of Edo State. A New Edo State where everyone matters, 2024 shall be a government from the people and for the people.
“Transform Edo State from consumption State to production and exportation of goods and services through government initiative that prioritise a practical exploration of the people’s abilities, empowering people based on their interests, talents, hobbies, natural resources, products, businesses, research, industries and vocation for the purpose of creating more employment and improving internal generation of revenue which are channelled into the improvement of infrastructures.
“Focus on institutional reforms and policies that discourage and reduced human exposure to corrupt practices. “To err is human”. Therefore to ensure rule of law, social values, equality and equity. Our vision goes across a reform that practically minimise and discourage people access to any forms of corrupt engagement.
“I therefore appeal for the cooperation and supports of every members of the Obidient family to actualize my dream as the next governor of Edo State come 2024 gubernatorial election, I so appeal,” he said.
Speaking while formally handing over LP membership card to Mr. Martins Okoukoni, the Ward 3 Chairman of the party, Mr. Thompson Ehiguese thanks the LP governorship aspirant for choosing the Party to actualize his dream and promised that in any area he may need the assistance of the party to actualize his dream, the doors are open to render such support. The presentation was done by Mr. Thompson Ehiguese, witnessed by Ward 3 LP exco members, leaders of the party, family members, friends and well-wishers.
A social reception was later held for guests who attended the event. Food and drinks were in sufficient supply to meet the needs of the guests.
