A Canadian-based Chartered Accountant and Behavioural Scientist, Mr. Goddy Francis Okoyo, who is better known in his GFO acronym, has sent a congratulatory message to Senator Monday Okpebholo (a.k.a. Akpakomiza) and Hon Dennis Idahosa (a k.a Denco), for winning the governorship and runner-up respectively, in the off-season governorship election held over the weekend.
In the titanic electioneering and keenly-contested polls, conducted by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), the duo of Okpebholo and Idahosa, flying the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), floored the twosome of Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) candidates, Olumide Akpata and his running mate, thus scoring 291,667 total votes for the APC, 247,274 for PDP and 22,763 for LP, respectively.
But, Mr. Okoyo, who served as Director of the Diaspora Committee of the state’s Campaign Council for the APC, also calls on Senator Okpebholo, the governor-elect, to use his new position to assemble the best of men and women to unify the people and usher in the peace and tranquility the people needed, to come out from the stagnancy, economic backwardness and disunity, which he said that “Governor Godwin Obaseki and his PDP-led government, had dragged the state and people into, for the eight years of misrule they have been in power”
Mr. Okoyo, a philanthropist and APC top shot from Ugboha in Esan South East local government area of the state, who won his Polling Unit and others of the town for APC, in the election, also called on all faithful of the state chapter of APC, to rally around Okpebholo, so that he could give the best to the people.
He also urged Ighodalo, Akpata, other candidates and their various parties, to join hands with the governor-elect and APC, to give the people the best dividends democracy could offer
