A strident call had been put across to Nigerian men folks, to adequately support the full participation of women in politics, business and other spheres of the Nigerian nation, in order to support the women affirmation clause, thus regarding it as the only pivot for family sustenance, overall national growth and its well-being
The call was made by Earl Osaro Onaiwu, a former governorship candidate in Edo State at the “Abuja Women in Business and Politics Summit”, held in the Yar’adua Centre in the Abuja city hub
Earl Onaiwu, a Convener of the summit, who was also a pioneer Director General of the People’s Democratic Party Governorship Forum (PDPGF), and the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), respectively, asserted that the Nigerian women were bound to avoid the petty differences which exist amongst them, urging further that it was a major barrier to overcoming the commonplace domination by the male chauvinists, which he said was by 80 percent
In the crowded event, attended mostly by young female politicians, entrepreneurs, students and from other vocations, some established names, who officiated the events, included Dr. Mary Idele-Alile, National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress ((APC) and her counterpart of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs Amina Darasimi Bryhm, Chairman, House of Reps Committee on TETFUND, Miriam Odinaka Onuoha, Mrs Joy Osaro Onaiwu, an entrepreneur and caregiver, Halima Buba, CEO/MDSuntrust Bank and others, had also called for full women participation.
In the elaborate and inspiring event, which actively supported mentoring for women from both sexes, papers were delivered by Hon Amb Ginika Tor-Ijeoma, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Achimugu, Mrs Dorris Uzoka-Anite, a female representative of the EFCC boss and others.
With the deliberations of the summit centred on the non-attainment of the benchmark of 35 percent for female political positioning visibility in other spheres, it bemoaned that it had been reduced to a negligible 4 percent.
