
The Asia’s burnt home after the deadly attack and arson
On April 22, 2013, a local politician Victor Asia and four of his children; Uyi, Lucky, Joy and Blessing were allegedly murdered by gunmen who stormed his home at No. 18, Idumonka Quarters Igueben, in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Family sources said the Killings were politically motivated. They alleged in a petition to the police on April 23,2013 that Pa. Victor Asia and his children were killed by persons suspected to be agents of a politici party in the April 22,2013 local government elections in the area.
According to one of the daughters of the deceased, Miss Sarah Asia, her brother, Asia Osas who worked as a polling agent to a political party during the elections was accused of snatching ballot boxes in one of the polling boots which culminated in the defeat of another political party.
“We learnt that it was as a result of the ballot boxes that my brother and his friends snatched at the polling boot that led to the invasion of our home and the death of my father , my younger brothers and sisters.
” The attackers set our house ablaze and they were burnt inside the house as they could not escape before the thugs set the house ablaze.
“My brother Osas and his friends were seen as the architect of their defeat, hence , they wanted to kill him but fortunately, he escaped when the gunmen came to our house that fateful night. My father and four of my siblings were murdered, leaving us in tears and fears”, she said
Miss Sarah Asia said the whereabouts of his brother remains unknown since the incident while the family has continued to live in fears.
” Even as I speak, my life and that of by brother is still in danger “, she further alleged.
