BENIN CITY- The Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO) is seeking the collaboration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council in its mission to catalyze sustainable economic growth and empower Edo’s future through strategic investment initiatives.
The Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Kelvin Uwaibi stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Exco of the Union ably led by Comrade Festus Alenkhe.
According to Mr. Uwaibi, ESIPO’s mandate extends to creating an investor-friendly environment, fostering MSME growth, and ensuring a conducive regulatory framework for businesses to thrive.
He said Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO) serves as a driving force behind Edo State’s economic transformation. With a resolute vision, ESIPO envisions a thriving ecosystem where innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment converge.
He further noted that ESIPO has also yielded commendable accomplishments. It has successfully attracted diverse investments, bolstering Edo’s economic landscape. The Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) reforms, spearheaded by ESIPO, have streamlined bureaucratic processes and enhanced the investment climate. The growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has been significantly catalyzed, contributing to local job creation and economic empowerment. ESIPO’s efforts have also cultivated a favorable regulatory environment that nurtures business growth and innovation.
“While ESIPO aspires to position Edo State as a preferred investment destination, ripe with opportunities across various sectors, by capitalizing on strategic location, skilled workforce, and vibrant culture, the aim of the agency is to attract both domestic and international investors. Our ultimate goal is to foster sustainable development, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall quality of life for Edo’s residents,” he said.
He recognized the pivotal role the media plays in shaping perceptions and disseminating information, and therefore seek the collaboration of the media in spotlighting the investment potentials within Edo State.
“Through your reach and influence, we can showcase the abundant opportunities available to investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators. By highlighting our achievements, aspirations, and projects, we can collectively spark interest and drive investment inflow into our state.
“We invite the NUJ to join us in this transformative journey and possibly work hand in hand to unveil Edo’s economic potential and pave the way for a prosperous future,” he petitioned.
On his part, chairman of the NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, while thanking the ESIPO’s for its roles in ensuring the influxes of foreign investors into the state, lamented the rate of poverty in the country.
He appealed to the agency to see how it could work with other relevant agencies to tackle it.
Comrade Alenkhe also urged the agency to create avenue where the Union can get affordable goods to stock its own Food Mart for the members of the union
He said the Food Mart was opened to help members of the Union get goods at affordable prices.
