BENIN CITY- Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has warned Nigerian voters never to vote in All Progressives Congress (APC) party in the 2023 presidential election or else Nigeria will break.
Obaseki said this while inaugurating Edo State Campaign Management Council at the Campaign Secretariat at Adesua in Sapele road in Benin City, Edo State.
The governor who inaugurated Chief Osaro Idah as Director General and 10 other Deputy Directors of the Campaign Council said the 2023 general election is all about the survival of Nigeria.
“This 2023 election will be won by what we do now not by what we do on Election Day. I believe this will be an easy election for us as a party if we campaign.
” Our heads should be examined if APC wins. God forbid, if APC wins and come to power in 2023 this country will break. APC has done much damage to this country. Our debt is growing to N60 trillion, every month and yet we continue printing money. They have destroyed this country. APC has threatened the survival and existence of this Country.
“Our candidate will win, we will rescue, rebuild, and reset Nigeria and guide it through the path of growth and development. Edo is ready to rescue Nigeria and after that Edo should not be left behind.
“Our politics today is all about our survival not on what to eat. Whatever sacrifice we will make is to ensure the nation survive.
“We will put in our best to ensure our party the PDP wins the 2023 general election. This election will be a different election, when we ran in 2020 we set a new template of election in Nigeria and today other States are following it”.
Obaseki called on the candidates to be the risk bearer in this election urging them to be in front while the party will support them from behind.
“Our candidates should be in the fore front of the campaign, we can’t do your work for you. We will follow your behind. We will give you all the support and influence. We would lay out strategy and endure we win this election.
“This election is important to us in Edo State as we can’t be in opposition. We can’t oppose what is bad. We know how to manage election, forget about those that called themselves Obedient, they can’t even organise a campaign council. We have set up our own and helping others to do likewise”.
The governor said all is well with Edo PDP as there is no division in the party. ” No division in our party but little disagreement that is being resolved as all are working together for the success of the PDP in the election.
“This election is a technical one and we have the infrastructure to deliver this election. We did it in Edo, Osun and know what to do as we will not take chances in this election”.
Obaseki gives the Edo State Campaign Management Council till November 1st, 2022 to set up the local government and ward campaign council. He urge them to carry everyone along.
The Chairman of Edo PDP Anthony Aziegbemi who called out all the members of the Campaign said the State is following the template given by the Presidential Campaign Council. “The council is made up of one Director General and 10 Deputy Directors”.
The Director General of the Council Chief Osaro Idah thanked the governor for the trust and assures him of the total commitment in winning the 2023 general election.
