Benin City – As part of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s ongoing EdoBEST 2.0 reforms, Basic, Secondary and Special Schools in Edo State will, on October 19 and 20th respectively, observe the School Open Day for the first time in the state.
This information was contained in a press release signed by Osawe O. Edwin, Acting Director, Schools Support Services on behalf of Dr.Joan Osa Oviawe, Hon. Commissioner of Education, Edo State and made available to the Press today.
According to the release, Wednesday, October 19 will be Open Day for Basic and Secondary Schools while Thursday, October 20 is for Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) and Special Schools.
The release stated that the day will afford parents the opportunity to be abreast with what goes on in the schools, vis-a-vis their wards/children’s academic and co-curricular performance.
The release further directs that students should be informed that it is a no-class day and that they should invite their parents to school in order to have sessions with their teachers and the school authority.
Open Day started in 2018 for Basic Schools, and has become imperative because it strengthens the relationship between parents, as major stakeholders in the Education Reforms , and the schools, the statement added.
