BENIN CITY- The maiden edition of the Edo People Forum’s Secondary School Football Championship has kicked off across the three senatorial districts in the state as Edo Boys Grammar School hammered Edo College 5-0 at Adolor College field.
In another fixture,Eghosa Grammar School succumbed to Western Boys High School 2-3 at home.
Speaking during the opening ceremony at Eghosa Grammar school,the chairman of the organising body Col. Charles Aiyudubie Asowata (Rtd) stated that the Edo People Forum is commited and interested in good governance and welfare of Edo people worldwide,adding that the fooball championship is a call for bring back School-sports in Edo state.
According to Col. Charles Aiyudubie Asowata(Rtd) “Youth Empowerment is part of our core objective and one of the best ways to reach our people is through sports. ”
We are beginning with youth empowerment through football and want to encourage development of Edo children in combining physical and mental health along education. A child that is engaged in sporting activities after class work throughout the week and weekends hardly have time to be involved in cultism and other social vices. And if we in collaboration with government and other stakeholders consciously support such programme,we may have save a soul.”

The Edo State Secondary Schools Football Championship which began weekend is expected to end on 29 of October,2022 with the final game scheduled to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
