The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists , Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has been presented with a SaFFER Africa Ambassador Award by the World Safety Organisation.
Also, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has been inducted as Fellow Global Safety Institute.
The award is in recognition of his global impact in promoting public health, safety, security as well as saving lives.
At the Lagos Chamber of commerce and Industry, venue of the event, the country Director, World Safety Organisation, Nigeria , Dr. Ambassador Soji Olalokun, said that the international body with presence in over 100 countries recognises the immense contributions of Comrade Festus Alenkhe towards safety of lives which over the years have attracted both local and international commendation.
The Governor General of SaFEER Africa, Ambassador Wilson Arikpo who called for attitudinal change said it was time Nigerians walk the talk in safety matters by engaging in measures that will ensure the safety of lives of individuals and communities.
In his keynote address, chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe identified the ostentatious lifestyle of most Nigerians as the major reason of them becoming target of criminally minded person in the society adding that safety is a collaborative effort of all irrespective of class or status.
Some guests and participants at the event which include the Mayor of London Borough of Lambeth 2022/2023 Pauline Akhere George, emphasised that the awardee, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, has been relentless in his unequalled commitment towards safety and security matters especially as it affects lives.
Good will messages from the Director General, National Youth Service Corps, yashau Dogara Ahmed, FEMA, Nigeria Port Authority, Federal Roads Safety Commission, amongst others emphasised the role of individuals and organisations in the prevention of disaster in emergency situations.
Highpoint of the event, was the official presentation of the prestigious award to Comrade Festus Alenkhe as well as his investiture as a SaFEER Africa Ambassador.
Journalists from Edo state were among dignitaries that graced the Festus Alenkhe Africa Saefer award event which took place in Lagos.
