Edo Court Restrain Police,Others From Harassing Community Elders

BENIN CITY-An Edo High Court sitting in Benin City,presided over by Justice V. O. Eboreime has granted an injunction restraining a Deputy Inspector General of Police,Edo State Commissioner of Police,Abutu Yaro and eleven others from harassing, intimidating, instigating and making false allegations against elders of Iguoshodin Nebudin,Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State over the Odionwere position in the community

In the ruling ,Suit No:B/142M/2022 between Pa James Agbonile as applicant on behalf of the elders of the community and Pa Omoragbon Uwuigbe ,Pa Godwin Igbineweka,Pa Caesar Uwaifo,Mr Edokpolo William ,Pa Osaigbovo Anini,Ms Yvonn Osawe ,Mr Uhunoma ,Taiwo Igbineweka,Olu Osunde ,Justice Eboreime also acceded to the request of the applicants to serve the respondents through the 1st respondent’s address,allowed a courier company as a special bailiff in the suit amongst others

The applicants had sought five relief in a motion exparte and in the Judge ruling said ” I have given careful consideration to prayer five (5) of the applicants and the affidavit in support of the two exhibits attached to the affidavit of urgency and written address of the learned Councel to the Applicants, Including the authorities cited therein

“The gravamen of the affidavit of urgency of the Applicants is that they,their relations and supporters are in horrific fear and apprehension of what the Respondents could do at any time, that the Respondents have severally framed up false allegations in the recent past against some of them leading to their arrest and detention for days and that after investigations there was nothing found against them”.
