BENIN CITY- The Odionwere,elders and entire people of Orovie community in Ovia North East Local Government area of edo state felicitates with His Royal Majesty Omo N’ Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II CFR on the celebration of this years Igue festival
Speaking on behalf of the people , the Odionwere of the community, Pa Emmanuel Osamwonyi Oviarobo appreciated the Oba for his stance at the resuscitation, preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the great Benin kingdom is known for
He said it is worrisome that our culture and traditional values have not been given the necessary attention adding that the people now prefer the western culture which is alien to the people
Pa Oviarobo said the celebration of Igue festival should be made a global event by all edos both at home and in diaspora as it is celebrated for peace , progress and unity in the land
While pledging loyalty to the Oba and the constitution of Benin Traditional councils, Pa Oviarobo urged the people to join the Oba in celebration of Igue festival and make it a global event
He also used the opportunity to appeal to the government to help the people in the area of roads , health care centers, schools and other infrastructure that will make life meaningful and enjoy the dividends of democracy.
