BENIN CITY- The National Chairman of Labour Party,Comrade Julius Abure has reiterated that the party’s ticket for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State is not for sale as being speculated but for the credible persons who meets the set criterion of the party.
Comrade Abure made the statement in Benin while addressing journalists along side with the Edo state executives of the party on the affairs of the party .
He pointed out that Labour Party is open to all Nigerians in accordance with the provision of the nation’s 1999 as constitution as amended adding that the bourgeois will not influence the judgement of the Party to get a credible persons to fly the party’s flag cone 2024 governship elections in the state.
He noted that so many people are looking up to the party to provide the much desired leadership and present a credible person ,the party will look at the pedigree, competency and capacity of the person that will eventually fly the party’s flag
He said the party is built on equal opportunity and social justice as all members will have the right in the selection of who represents them noting that the members of the labour party are people of dignity, honesty and integrity.
“Our quarel with the APC and PDP over the years is that they lacked internal democracy and as an emerging political party who believe that we must change the narratives in the country and the labour party can not be seen towing that line ,we must learn from the mistake of other political parties and be able to improve tremendously on the party “.
On the endorsement of a candidate,the National Chairman denied it outrightly endorsing anyone as candidate of the party ahead of the 2024 governorship election in Edo State pointing out that members of the party will be the ones to chose who would be the candidate of the party when the time comes.
While appreciating the people ,NGOs and members of the party for their dedication ,support and recipient especially during the Presidential, House of Senate , Representatives and state assembly elections noted that they still have more work to do by mobilizing for membership and also that committees will be constituted to move round and get more members to come into the fold of the party and clinch the governorship seat come 2024
On the on going case at the tribunal,Comrade Abure said the have given out all the necessary evidences in court and assured the people that justice will certainly be served to the party at the end of the day .
“Our stolen mandate will be reclaimed at the court hence the appealed to our supporters to remain calm and to once more reiterate that we believe in the judicial process and the judiciary will do the right thing”.
He also informed that all the disagreement and in fighting between leaders of the party have been amicably resolved as the party is now one and the party to beat.
