BENIN CITY- The good people of Ward 12 in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State have started to feel the dividends of democracy courtesy Hon. Elton Etinosa Eruotor, member representing the ward at the legislative arm of the local government council.
Hon. Eruoto who during his electioneering campaign promised his constituents to bring to their doorstep the dividends of democracy if voted into office as councillor to represent the good people of Ward 12 in the local government council fulfils his promise to the people
One of the promises made was executed yesterday, 12th September, 2023 when he led youths, women and elders of Ward 12 to commission street lights in Iwegie Street, Off Foresty/Akpakpaba, Iyekemosa Street, Isiwe Street and Omo Street all in Oredo Ward 12.
While commissioning the project, Hon. Elton Etinosa Eruotor noted that whenever there is power outage , it become imperative for residents in the area to stay indoor because of the fear of the unknown and also carrying out their businesses in the affected street, which prompted his response to embark on provision of street lights in the area
According to him, “My decision to install street light in my Ward 12 is to assist Edo State Security Network so they can do their work effective around my ward, because with lights on our streets, we would be save and secured our vicinity against hoodlums” .
“So, this is the first campaign promise to my constituents, that if voted into officer, I would tackle the issue of street lights in Iwegie Street, Off Foresty/Akpakpaba, Iyekemosa Street, Isiwe Street and Omo Street all in Oredo Ward 12.
“It may also interest you to note that come Friday 15th September, 2023, I will be going to Agbado Primary School and Emokpae Primary School all in Ward 12 to empower our children with 300 copies of notebooks, because as they say, Education is power and is the key to success. I want so see how much I can assist our children by giving out notebooks to assist them in their education pursuit.
“This is also an attestation to the fact that our amiable governor, the wake and see governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is working towards the growth and better environment that will be conducive for our children to learn. So, my desire is to assist and emulate him in that direction.
“I want to assure the people that better days are coming. All I need is the cooperation and safeguarding of the projects executed in Ward 12 either by Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration or my humble self.
“They should be expecting good governance, quality representatives and above all, I promise to put smile on their faces.”
According to Hon. Festus Osazuwa Omogui, Councillor representing Oredo Ward 7, Hon. Elton has done a very great work and I appreciate him. My coming here has also made me to know that I have a challenge ahead and too to follow up in my constituency. He has proven himself well before his constituents.
He noted that the laudable achievements is a challenge to other councillors, and I believe they are going to do the same. “There are things you don’t need to wait for the government at the state level to do, We should be able to do it ourselves to make our constituencies a better place for our people. For Hon. Elton to install this streets light in less than six days in office, is a big challenge to us.”
According to Hon. Monday Igunma Oboh, former councillor who represented Oredo Ward 12 at the legislative arm of the Oredo local government council, “Hon. Elton Etinosa Eruotor’s achievement in less than a week, is a very good development, and we know he is going to do more as regard to what he is doing now. Even while he was campaigning, he refurbished a lot of boreholes in Ward 12, and today he has switch up streets light .What else can we say?
“He has leverage on what we have done as councilor, and he has told us that he is going is to surpass what we has done while we were in the office. Kudos to him, we like the young man, he has the support of the youths in the whole three zone. If you go to A Zone is Elton, B Zone is Elton, and here in C Zone is Elton. Every youths from all the zones are here to say thanks to Hon. Elton for this laudable achievement in less than one week in office.
“My prayer is that God Almighty should protect him and make provision to enable him delivered on his campaign promises. I know with God on his side, he will not let us down,” he said.
“This has shown that Hon. Elton is ready to hit the ground running. As we all aware, he is a man of the people, and as we speak, he has not gotten a dime from the council. He believes going there is not to enrich his pocket, but he believes he has the capacity, that is why he contested for this position to bring dividends of democracy to his constituency.
A resident in the area, Mrs. Osawaru said, “We thank Hon. Elton for this achievement so far. I am surprise that in less than a week, he has installed street light to Iwegie Street, and I am happy because it will boost my business. We would have been in darkness but for the light courtesy Hon. Elton. I really appreciate him. May God continue to protect him in his endeavors,”.
