Elders of Evbomoma Village in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, have regretted the degree of deplorable roads in the locality, just as they have seek Governor Godwin Obaseki’s intervention in fixing the roads which according to them, have hampered socio- economic and political growth in the locality.
The elders and people made their intention known while analysing the achievements of this present administration in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the elders and people, the Okaeghele (youths leader), Comrade Terry Eboigbe, lamented the deplorable roads in the village which connects Peanut from Sapele road by pass down to Benin/Sapele express road.
He said that his village has contributed immensely towards political and democratic development of the state and yet still remains under developed in terms of good governance, saying since 1999 till date the country returned to her consistent democratic transition, government’s presence had not been felt.
The Okaeghele added that the village had resorted to self help in executing some viable projects, stressing that the elders have made several requests for road construction and rehabilitation to the Edo State government but to no avail as frantic efforts to reach out to his Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of the state, proved abortive.
Comrade Eboigbe who expressed appreciation to the Enogie, elders, women and youths of the village for their selfless dispositions in bringing the desired development to the locality, however appealed to Governor Obaseki to come to their rescue as the major road linking the village had become a nightmare to users.
He maintained that his village usually contributes 55% of total votes cast in Ikpoba Okha during every election, pointing out that Mr Governor is a man who believes in action and not propaganda.
He explained that this appeal had become imperative and particularly against the backdrop of the forthcoming local government elections slated for next month as well as the 2024 governorship elections in the state
