…says Governor can do more in Cash Crops Exports

BENIN CITY- The Osuan of Benin kingdom, High Chief Ambrose Osuan has Tasked Edo State Governor, Distinguished Sen. Monday Okpebholo on the way forward for Edo economy, as the Governor marks One year anniversary in office yesterday.
According to Chief Osuan, who spoke to our Correspondent in his Benin City Palace, there are obviously some areas where the Distinguished Senator may have made a remarkable impact within one year in office , whereas there are many other areas where he can up the game in order to boost Edo economy so he could provide succour to Edo residents.
Such areas the Governor needs to advance the progress of Edo people include Agriculture , Food Security and Reforestation .
While commending the SHINE Agenda of His Excellency, High Chief Ambrose Osuan opined that Sen. Okpebholo needs to focus more on growing cash crops in the fertile green lands in Edo, adding that only emphasis on cultivation and exports of cash crops will guarantee food security in the State
He explained that cash crops will yield and boost the Edo economy and ensure more direct foreign investment which can ultimately lead to a significant boost in the State’s Economy and increase the national GDP when exports of such cash crops comes on full stream.
He advised Governor Okpebholo not to be distracted by activities of thugs in the State but to urgently revisit the proposal he personally submitted to the Governor which he claimed was duly acknowledged by His Excellency at the Government House in Benin City.
He further explained that the proposal titled ” The Proposal for Cultivation, Harvesting of Gamalana (Gmelina Arboreal) Tree Plantation Across the 18 local Government Areas of Edo State And The Exportation of Processed And Unprocessed Tree Logs Internationally By Costfromi Ltd, Osuan Palace, 27 Airport Road, Benin City.” which was received and acknowledged by Governor Okpebholo , when implemented,
will promote and galvanize Edo economy with Billions of Naira per annum.
He averred that the trees with a 4 year life span can be converted into many productive uses just as the Palm Plantation.
He called on the State Government to also intentionally and meaningfully invest more on infrastructure renewal and fix all the bad roads across the State .
High Chief Osuan wished Governor Okpebholo well in his future endeavors while congratulating him on his One year anniversary in office.
