The former Executive Director Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and prominent Edo APC Gubernatorial Aspirant, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, rtd, mni, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his shrewd decision to channel the distribution of his Restored Hope palliatives through members of the National Assembly.
Commending President Tinubu’s wisdom, Gen. Airhiavbere emphasized that this strategic move not only ensures a more efficient distribution system, reaching a wider demographic but also allows for targeted assistance to areas facing the most pressing needs.
Recent revelations have surfaced indicating that Senators received palliative items valued at a staggering N200 million each, with House of Representatives members also receiving items worth N100 million each.
Presidential sources confirm that, in adherence to President Tinubu’s directive, lawmakers are diligently taking stock of the federal government’s palliative items, predominantly consisting of essential food items aimed at easing the lives of all Nigerians, especially their constituents.
Gen. Airhiavbere asserted, “Utilizing the existing network of National Assembly members in the distribution process will significantly benefit Senators and representatives, enhancing community engagement.”
He continued, “This approach will foster trust and transparency, concurrently elevating political accountability as representatives are directly involved, assuming responsibility for ensuring fair and equitable distribution.”
Highlighting the potential for a swifter response in emergency situations, Gen. Airhiavbere emphasized the significance of leveraging the established political infrastructure to address the immediate needs of the population.
As the distribution unfolds, Gen. Airhiavbere laid the responsibility on the Distinguished Senators, urging them to ensure that, across the nation, they fulfill their duties in the best interest and benefit of all Nigerians.
