BENIN CITY- THE immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State and nominee into the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Pius Odubu, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state not to take the crisis in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for granted but urged them to campaign rigorously to ensure victory for the party in the 2023 general elections.
Dr Odubu gave the charge at the inauguration of the Campaign Council and formal flag-off of the Party flag bearer for House of Representatives, Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Osaro Obazee, on Monday in Benin City.
He said “The biggest mistake is to take the crisis in the PDP for granted, no matter the crisis in the PDP, no matter the disobedience in the Labour Party, we must work hard to win the election.
“We have to work extremely hard to win this election. We must become what I call political Jehovah Witnesses, we must move around the nooks and crannies of Oredo Federal Constituency and preach the gospel of APC.
“As we campaign, we campaign for our presidential candidate, senatorial candidate, all the House of Representatives candidates and all the state house of assembly candidates because together victory is assured.
On his part, the state chairman of the party, Col David Imuse (rtd), said the success of the APC in the 2023 elections would be a precursor to the party winning back the state in 2024.
While inaugurating his Campaign Council, Hon.Osaro Obazee, charged the members to engage in an aggressive door-to- door and issue based campaign.
He advised the members to subject themselves to the leadership of the state campaign council which according to him (Obazee), would coordinate all campaign activities of the party.
Responding on behalf of the members, Mr. Moses Idahosa, noted that members of the council are result -driven, while assuring of issued based campaign.
Among the array of dignitaries at the event were the former governorship candidate of the party in the 2020 governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Razaq Belo-Osagie, former Speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon Uyi Igbe, for members of the state house of assembly, candidates of the party for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly from Edo South senatorial district among others.
