Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Prof Julius Ihonvbere has congratulated the Bishop of Sabongidda-Ora Diocese ((ANGLICAN COMMUNION), Rt. Rev’d Augustine Ehijimetor Ohilebo, Priests, delegates and the entire Anglican Faithfuls on the celebration of the 3rd session of the 10th Synod of the Diocese.
Ihonvbere, in a statement by his Senior Aide on Media and Public Affairs, Joshua Olarewaju Iraoya commended the Sabongidda-Ora Diocese (ANG COMMUNION) under the headship of Bishop Ohilebo for its constant watch through prayers over the affairs of Owan Federal Constituency which has led to a peaceful co-existence amongst communities and adherents of different religious faiths in Owan land.
The Owan Rep, a Knight of the Anglican Communion, noted that the annual congregation of Anglican Faithfuls to mark and celebrate the Synod is a veritable avenue for the people of God to meet in one piece, cross-fertilize ideas and join forces in prayers whilst also taking a retrospective overview of issues related to governance and how they have affected the society in the preceding year with a view to offering plausible suggestions to the Government for possible improvement in areas observed as lapses.
He said the theme of the 10th Synod, ” AS MOSES LIFTED UP THE SERPENT: A CALL FOR WATCHFULNESS,” couldn’t have come at a better time because it speaks to every citizen in the country in view of the current challenges of insecurity pervading various parts of the country which requires that all hands must be on deck in in surmounting them.
He called for prayers and support for the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other representatives of the people at various levels in order to enable the Government proffer adequate solutions to the numerous challenges that has plagued our country over the years.
While wishing the Bishop, Priests, delegates and the entire congregation of the Sabongidda-Ora Diocese (ANG COMMUNION) a successful 2023 Synod, he commended the Church for her constant prayers and supplications over the affairs Owan Federal Constituency, Edo State and the country at large and sued for its sustenance.
The Synod kicked-off on Sunday 16th July, 2023 at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Oke-New, Ora, in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State and is expected to formally wind up on Wednesday, 19th July, 2023.
